Forest bathing at Wandlebury Country Park
Woods, meadows and an Iron Age hill fort on the Gog Magog Hills, a short way south of Cambridge.
Wandlebury Country Park covers about 150 acres of woodland, meadow and old orchard on the Gog Magog Hills, around two miles south of Addenbrooke's Hospital. It is owned and run by the charity Cambridge Past, Present and Future, and at its centre is an Iron Age hill fort. For somewhere so close to the city it feels properly rural, with woods to wander in and long views from the open ground.
Most people arrive at the car park off the A1307; buses between Cambridge and Haverhill also stop near the entrance, and a cycle path runs alongside the road. More than 8 km of paths lead through the woods, meadows and orchards, so you can choose a short loop or a longer wander. Cycling is not allowed inside the park, which keeps the paths calm. Dogs must be on leads, though there is a fenced dog run. A pop-up café opens on some days, weather permitting. The park is free to enter and open every day from dawn to dusk.
