Forest bathing at Millington Wood
One of the last wooded dales in the Yorkshire Wolds, tucked into a steep valley above the village of Millington.
Millington Wood fills one of the few remaining wooded dales in the Yorkshire Wolds, in a steep-sided valley above the village of Millington, a few miles north-east of Pocklington. A dale still full of trees is unusual in this open chalk country. Millington Springs rise in the wood and once fed watercress beds, and charcoal has been made in the wood in recent years.
The open grassland of Millington Pastures lies close by and is popular with walkers and cyclists, and the Yorkshire Wolds Way passes through the parish just east of the village, so the wood combines well with a longer walk. Expect slopes and earth paths. Check access and parking with the local council before you travel, as details could not be confirmed.
