Forest bathing at Brockhampton
A large estate of natural woodland, old orchards and parkland with veteran trees above the Bromyard valley.
Brockhampton is a National Trust estate of around 1,700 acres near Bromyard, made up of woodland, parkland, farmland and more than 145 acres of orchards, the largest the Trust looks after. The parkland has veteran trees, and a two-mile woodland trail runs through the estate's natural woodland. It is a working landscape rather than a formal garden, which gives it an unhurried feel.
Four colour-coded walks start near the car park: the green woodland trail is the one to choose for time among trees, while the yellow parkland walk takes in the older trees in the open. There are also about three kilometres of accessible hard-standing paths if you want level, firm going. The orchards are worth combining with a woodland walk in spring blossom time and again in autumn. Away from the manor and café the estate is large enough that it rarely feels busy.
