Forest bathing at Trent Country Park

A large former estate of woodland, meadows and lakes on London's northern edge, close to Cockfosters station.

Trent Country Park is a 413 acre former estate on the northern edge of London, the largest park in Enfield and part of the Green Belt. It is a mix of grassland and woodland, with two lakes, a water garden, an obelisk and a long double avenue of lime trees along the main drive. Camlet Moat, a medieval moated site, is also within the park. The London Loop crosses the park, so it connects easily to longer walks, but the woodland itself has plenty of space to stop and sit.

Cockfosters station is about ten minutes' walk from the main entrance on Cockfosters Road, where you will find the free car parks, the café and the only public toilets. That end is the busiest, with play areas and families. For quieter woodland, follow the paths away from the main car park, or use the woodland parking reached from the Hadley Road entrance on the far side. There are walking paths throughout, plus a bridle path and cycle routes, so expect to share some tracks.
