Forest bathing at Ravencraig
A council woodland in the Bathgate Hills with a free car park, wide paths and views to the Forth and the Pentlands.
Ravencraig is a 53-hectare West Lothian Council woodland in the Bathgate Hills, about two miles outside Bathgate on the B708. From its higher ground there are views out over the Firth of Forth and its bridges, and across to the Pentland Hills and the rest of the Bathgate Hills.
There is one entrance, with a large, free, surfaced car park, which makes it a straightforward place to arrive and get going. The paths and tracks are mostly wide, a mix of surfaced and grassed, with some waymarking and a few gradients, so it suits an unhurried walk without much route-finding. With fewer facilities than nearby Beecraigs, it is a simpler, plainer place for a quiet couple of hours. There are no facilities on site; the nearest toilets, bus stop and station are in Bathgate.
