Forest bathing at Golden Acre Park and Breary Marsh
A level, well-kept park with gardens, a lake and woodland north of Leeds, next to a wet woodland nature reserve.
Golden Acre Park sits on the A660 between Adel and Bramhope, about six miles north of Leeds. It mixes parkland, woodland, demonstration gardens and plant collections around a lake and streams, and the main paths are fairly flat, so it is one of the easiest places in the county for a slow walk among trees. Next door is Breary Marsh Local Nature Reserve, with alder and willow carr, a wet woodland that feels much wilder than the park.
Park in the car park off the A660 and start with the circular walk around the lake, then cross into Breary Marsh for the quieter part of the visit; the wet woodland is mainly on its northern side. The café and toilets, including a Changing Places facility, are by the main car park, and free mobility scooters can be booked on the day. Paths in the reserve are more natural and can be wet.
