Forest bathing at Alyn Waters Country Park
Wrexham's largest country park, with woodland, grassland and riverside walks either side of the River Alyn.
Alyn Waters is the largest country park in the Wrexham area, spread along both banks of the River Alyn between Gwersyllt and Llay. It is a patchwork of woodland, grassland and riverside, so you can move between open ground and shade, and the river is a steady presence along the valley floor.
The Gwersyllt side is the main entrance, with the visitor centre, café and toilets; the Llay side has its own car park. Some paths are wide and tarmacked, suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs, though one section is steep. Head along the river and into the woods away from the visitor centre for the calmest stretches. Frosty winter mornings and early spring are good times to come before the park gets busy. The Gwersyllt gates are only open in the daytime.
