Forest bathing at California Country Park

California Country Park, off Nine Mile Ride near Finchampstead, is a Wokingham Borough Council park set around Longmoor Lake, a six-acre estate lake with five islands. Around it is a mix of woodland and heathland, and Longmoor Bog, an ancient site protected as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, where a boardwalk carries the path across the wet ground.

The path around Longmoor Lake is hard surfaced and just under a mile long, which makes it one of the easier options in the area for pushchairs and wheelchairs, and Jackson's Cafe is near the main car park. For a quieter walk, follow the 2.2-mile Woodland Walk out through the trees and heath and across the bog on the boardwalk. Other trails can be muddy in wet weather. The car park is pay and display and the gates lock at night, so leave in good time.
