Forest bathing at Coed y Bont
A community woodland at Pontrhydfendigaid, once part of Strata Florida Abbey's lands, with short level trails and ancient oaks.
Coed y Bont is a community woodland on the edge of Pontrhydfendigaid, near Tregaron. It has two parts: Coed Dolgoed, a flat lower wood of young native broadleaves with ponds, and Coed Cnwch, an ancient hillside wood of old oaks and hazel. Both were once part of the lands of Strata Florida Abbey, whose ruins are close by. Natural Resources Wales looks after it with the volunteer Coed y Bont Community Woodland Association.
This is one of the easiest woods in Ceredigion to get round. The Aspen Trail and Birchwood Trail are short, level and gravel surfaced, a little bumpy in places, and suit off-road mobility scooters and sturdy pushchairs; they pass young woodland, birch and ponds. For older trees, follow the rougher, steeper paths up into Coed Cnwch. The free car park is along Abbey Road from the village, and you can add a visit to the abbey.
