Forest bathing at Cwm Gwaun and Sychpant
Wooded slopes of the steep Gwaun valley inland from Fishguard, with short walks from the Sychpant picnic area.
Cwm Gwaun is a steep, wooded valley running inland from Fishguard into the foot of the Preseli hills, one of the quietest corners of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. Woodland covers the valley sides above the small river, with fields and grazing above. The National Park Authority publishes several short walks from the Sychpant picnic area, which make it easy to spend a slow morning under the trees.
The Cwm Gwaun walk is a loop of about two and a half miles on woodland paths, with a boggy section crossed on logs and several stiles. The shorter Coed Gelli-fawr walk has steep, uneven ground, and the Cwm Bach walk climbs a small side valley through fields with livestock. All start from the car park at Sychpant. There is no public transport, so you will need a car or bike, and good boots.
