Forest bathing at Brotherton Park and Dibbinsdale

A wooded river valley in Bromborough with one of the Wirral's finest ancient woodlands, meadows and old parkland.

Brotherton Park and Dibbinsdale is a 54 hectare local nature reserve in a river valley between Bromborough and Spital. Wirral Council describes its ancient woodland, a Site of Special Scientific Interest, as one of the largest and finest on the Wirral. Around it are wildflower meadows, reed swamp and old parkland, so you can move from deep woodland to open ground in a few minutes.

The car park and Ranger's Office are on Spital Road, and the park is open from dawn to dusk all year. Paths drop into the valley, with steps through the woodland, so it is not all level. The valley floor along the river is the quietest part. Spring is the best season for flowers in the woods and meadows, and the trees give good shelter on a wet day. Toilets are open only when a ranger or volunteers are on site.
