Forest bathing at Drumpellier Country Park

Five hundred acres of loch, woodland and moor on the west side of Coatbridge, with many paths suitable for wheelchairs and prams.

Drumpellier is a 500 acre country park on the western edge of Coatbridge, with two natural lochs, moorland, grassland and woodland. The Monkland Canal runs along its southern edge. The lochs and canal draw resident and migrating waterbirds, and the woods and grassland hold birds, mammals and native wildflowers. It is one of the easiest places in North Lanarkshire to spend time among trees without a long drive or a rough path.

A network of paths reaches every part of the park, and many are suitable for wheelchairs and prams, which makes it a good first choice if you want level going. The visitor centre, café and adventure playground are the busy hub, so walk away from them towards the woodland and moor for quieter spots. A slow circuit of the lochs is a good way to start, then pick a woodland path and stop wherever you find a bench or a view over the water.
