Forest bathing at Kings Weston Estate

Over 300 acres of historic parkland and ancient woodland around a Vanbrugh house in north-west Bristol.

Kings Weston Estate is a historic landscape of more than 300 acres in north-west Bristol, laid out around Kings Weston House. Alongside the house and garden features there is semi-natural woodland, including ancient woodland at Penpole Wood, avenues of trees and a number of veteran trees. In the wood you will come across the ruins of Penpole Lodge and the Penpole Dial on Penpole Point.

There are two small gravel car parks, one off Kingsweston Lane and one off Shirehampton Road, and you can also walk in from Penpole Lane or Mancroft Avenue. The woodland paths are uneven and unsurfaced and get muddy in wet weather, so this is not an easy site for wheelchairs or pushchairs. The café in the house has the only toilet, for customers when it is open. The estate is free and open at all times, and it links on foot to Blaise Castle Estate if you want a longer day.
