Forest bathing at Weston Woods

130 hectares of woodland on Worlebury Hill above Weston-super-Mare, with an Iron Age hillfort at its western tip.

Weston Woods cover 130 hectares of Worlebury Hill, dominating the skyline above Weston-super-Mare. The hill was grazed grassland for centuries until it was planted as conifer woodland in the early 19th century. Many trees were later felled for First World War trench timber, and after a long spell of little management the wood is now looked after again and is a Local Nature Reserve. At the western tip is Worlebury Camp, an Iron Age hillfort with ramparts and 93 stone-lined storage pits.

The main entrance and car park are on Worlebury Hill Road at the eastern end. From there an accessible path of about 1.5 miles leads west through the trees to the hillfort, and other signposted routes link the woods with the seafront, Kewstoke and Sand Bay. Paths near the hillfort are uneven with stones and roots.
