Forest bathing at Worsley Woods

A local nature reserve of woodland, brook and old dams beside Worsley village, linked to the Tyldesley Loopline.

Worsley Woods is about 35 hectares of woodland beside the village of Worsley in Salford, owned by Salford City Council and a local nature reserve since 2006. Kempnough Brook runs through it, and there are wetland areas such as Old Warke Dam, with wildflowers in the clearings and meadows. It is close to the motorways but feels tucked away once you are among the trees.

The paths are well maintained, which makes this one of the easier woods in Greater Manchester for a slow walk. Some paths stay within the wood; others link to the Tyldesley Loopline, an old railway path, or on to Beesley Green. The brookside paths are the most enclosed, and the old dams are good places to stop and sit. Spring brings the wildflowers.
