Forest bathing at Glencoe Lochan
A small lochan ringed by tall conifers and redwoods just outside Glencoe village, with an easy all-abilities path around the water.
Glencoe Lochan is a small lochan just outside Glencoe village, surrounded by woodland planted in the 1890s by Lord Strathcona with North American trees. Towering redwoods and tall conifers line the paths, and on a still day the trees and the surrounding mountain peaks are reflected in the water. Forestry and Land Scotland manages it. It is a gentle contrast to the bare, dramatic glen nearby.
The car park is reached through Glencoe village, over the hump-back bridge. The short all-abilities Lochan Trail circles the water's edge and is the obvious choice for a slow visit, with places to stop and look across the lochan. If you want more, the woodland paths and the steeper Mountain Trail climb above it. There are no toilets, cafés or shops on site; they are in Glencoe village, a short walk away.
