Forest bathing at Contin Forest
A popular mixed woodland west of Contin near Strathpeffer, with an easy trail through the pines and long views over Strathconon.
Contin Forest is a Forestry and Land Scotland woodland just west of the village of Contin, near Strathpeffer. It is a mix of trees, with pinewoods close to the car park, and pine martens and squirrels live here. The trails range from flat walks to steep climbs with long views over Strathconon, so you can choose how much effort you want to put in.
The car park is reached through the forest buildings off the A835 beyond Contin. The short all-abilities Black Water Trail runs through the pines and is the one to choose for a slow, easy visit, with picnic benches under the trees. Seasonal accessible toilets are open from April to October. Forestry work is going on in parts of the woodland, so you may meet short delays on some paths, though the Black Water Trail is unaffected.
