Forest bathing at Holt Country Park
About 100 acres of Scots pine and broadleaved woodland beside Holt, with waymarked trails, an easy access path and a tea room.
Holt Country Park is about 100 acres of mixed woodland on the edge of the market town of Holt, run by North Norfolk District Council and holder of a Green Flag award. Scots pines are the main tree, with native broadleaves mixed in among them. It is a manageable size and easy to reach, which makes it a good choice for a first slow walk, and it is open day and night all year.
Start from the car park, where there are toilets and Hetty's House Tea Room. Waymarked trails lead off into the woods, including an easy access trail, and there is a sculpture trail and a downloadable orienteering map if you want a route to follow. Away from the car park the paths are quieter, but some are uneven and may not suit pushchairs or wheelchairs. Autumn is a good time to come, when the broadleaves colour against the dark pines. Mobile signal is limited inside the park, so pay for parking and check your route before you set off.
