Forest bathing at Colby Woodland Garden
A wooded valley near Amroth with an industrial past, an eight acre woodland garden and walks out to the beach.
Colby is a National Trust estate of about 900 acres in a wooded valley near Amroth, on the south Pembrokeshire coast. The eight acre woodland garden grew up on land that was part of an 18th century coalfield, and it is hard to picture that history now among the trees. There is also a secret walled garden, open meadows and a sky gazing glade among the trees.
Five self-guided trails start from the visitor area, from just over a mile to about three miles; the family garden walk can be stretched down to Amroth beach. Head up the valley away from the tea-room and play areas for the quieter woods and fields. Wildflowers fill some routes in spring and early summer. The woodland and car park are open during the day, and dogs on leads are welcome in the main garden.
