Forest bathing at Beddgelert Forest

A large forest in the heart of Eryri north of Beddgelert, with views to Yr Wyddfa and a quiet lake, Llyn Llywelyn.

Beddgelert Forest is a large Natural Resources Wales forest in the heart of Eryri National Park, a couple of miles north of Beddgelert on the road to Caernarfon. It sits in the valley below the mountains, and from its tracks you look straight across to Yr Wyddfa. In the middle of the trees is Llyn Llywelyn, a secluded small lake with picnic tables beside it, a natural place to stop.

The Llyn Llywelyn Walk is a circuit of almost three miles, mostly on forest road with short sections of narrower track, one of which can be muddy, and a short stretch of rough cobbles. It takes about two and a half hours at an easy pace. The Welsh Highland Railway runs through the forest, so you cross the line twice by manual gates. The Lôn Gwyrfai multi-user path also passes through, linking Beddgelert and Rhyd Ddu. Parking is free.
