Forest bathing at Hay Wood

A quiet ancient wood near Baddesley Clinton with foxgloves, bluebells and a bridleway through its centre.

Hay Wood is a Forestry England woodland near Baddesley Clinton, north-west of Warwick. It is ancient woodland, and Forestry England describes it as a peaceful place for walking and riding. Bluebells flower in spring and foxgloves follow in early summer, and you may see muntjac deer, rabbits, birds and butterflies. There are no facilities on site, so come prepared.

Parking is free, with no designated accessible spaces. A bridleway runs through the centre of the wood, waymarked with Warwickshire County Council discs, and public footpaths lead off it. Paths are unsurfaced, so expect mud in winter and after rain. Spring is the best time to come, while the bluebells are out. It combines well with a walk across the fields from Baddesley Clinton church, which has a track to Hay Wood Lane. Dogs are welcome.
