Forest bathing at Three Brooks Nature Reserve

Three old bluebell woods, brooks and a lake in Bradley Stoke, linked by well-surfaced paths.

Three Brooks Local Nature Reserve runs through Bradley Stoke, between the town and the M4. Its core is three bluebell woods, Webb's Wood, Savage's Wood and Sherbourne's Brake, mainly oak, ash, hawthorn and hazel; Webb's Wood was coppiced in the past. Around them are brooks, ponds, rough grassland, old hedgerows, a lake and a community orchard, in all around 44 hectares.

This is a good easy-access choice. There are several entrances with well-surfaced paths, and more than 500m of woodland path was upgraded in 2019 and 2020. A gate behind the leisure centre gives mobility scooter users access to Savage's Wood, though a Radar key is needed to open it fully. The woods are at their best in spring when the bluebells are out.
