Forest bathing at Wendover Woods
Forestry England woodland high in the Chilterns above Aston Clinton, with views, waymarked trails and an easy access trail.
Wendover Woods is a Forestry England woodland in the Chiltern Hills above Aston Clinton, near Aylesbury, with views out across the Chilterns. It is one of the better-equipped woods in the region: waymarked walking, running and cycling trails, a fitness trail, picnic spots and an easy access trail all start from the main car park. That makes it a good choice if you want a café and proper toilets close by.
The busy part is the hub around the café, play areas, the Gruffalo sculpture and Go Ape, especially at weekends and in school holidays. For quiet, take one of the longer walking trails away from the hub and you will soon be among the trees with far fewer people. The site is gated, with longer hours in summer than in winter, and the last car in is an hour before closing. Wendover station is close enough for a car-free visit.
