Forest bathing at The Argory
A National Trust estate on the River Blackwater near Moy, with riverside woodland and a lime tree walk.
The Argory is a National Trust house and estate on the banks of the River Blackwater, in the far north-west corner of County Armagh. Beyond the house and gardens the estate has woodland and riverside paths, and two circular walks of about two miles each: the River Walk along the Blackwater, where you may see kingfishers, and the Lime Tree Walk.
Both walks start from the car park on Derrycaw Road, where you'll also find toilets, a courtyard coffee shop and a picnic area. The River Walk takes around 40 minutes at a steady pace, so there's plenty of time to slow down and stop along the water. Sections are rugged and uneven, and parts get very boggy after rain, so wear boots in winter. The riverside stretches are not recommended for people with limited mobility, but there is an accessible route around the grounds. Dogs are welcome on leads.
