Forest bathing at Campsie Glen
A wooded glen above Clachan of Campsie, following the Kirk Burn up towards the Campsie Fells.
Campsie Glen is a steep-sided glen cut into the Campsie Fells above the small village of Clachan of Campsie, with its old church. Forestry and Land Scotland looks after the walk, which climbs from the village over grassy slopes and into the glen along the Kirk Burn. The woodland is mixed, with pine as well as broadleaves, and there are several picnic spots under the trees.
Start in Clachan of Campsie and follow the path up beside the burn; the further you go into the glen, the more the sound of water takes over. Above the woods you can carry on onto the open hill if you want a longer day, but the burnside is the place to slow down. Forestry and Land Scotland posts a tick warning here, so cover your legs in summer and check yourself afterwards. After storms, look at its local alerts before you set out.
