Forest bathing at Lennox Forest
Quiet conifer forest on the slopes above Lennoxtown, with wide forest roads and views to Glasgow and the Campsie Fells.
Lennox Forest is a Forestry and Land Scotland woodland of about 300 hectares on the southern edge of the Campsie Fells, above Lennoxtown. It is mostly conifer forest, crossed by wide forest roads, and gaps in the trees give views down to Glasgow and up to the Campsie hills. Crossbills feed in the canopy and roe deer move between the trees.
You can walk straight in from Lennoxtown, or come along the bridleway from Torrance. The forest roads make it easy to plan a circuit of whatever length suits, and they are shared with cyclists and horse riders, so step off the main track into the trees if you want to stop for a while. Under the conifers it stays sheltered in wind and light rain. After storms, check the Forestry and Land Scotland alerts before you go.
