Forest bathing at Clyne Valley Country Park
Swansea's only country park: 700 acres of valley woodland, old industrial remains and a level cycle path from Blackpill.
Clyne Valley Country Park covers over 700 acres on both sides of the Clyne River, running from the sea at Blackpill inland towards Gowerton. It was once part of the Vivian estate and a busy industrial valley of coal workings, brickmaking, charcoal burning, railways and canals, and you still come across the remains. The Mumbles side has big old beech, ash and oak; the other side is woodland and scrub that has grown back naturally.
The old railway line through the valley is now part of National Cycle Route 4, which makes it a good level, easy access option, though it is shared with bikes. For quieter time, step off onto the woodland paths up the valley sides, which are earth and can be muddy; some are also used by mountain bikers. Clyne car park on Derwen Fawr Road is pay and display and serves both the park and the neighbouring Clyne Gardens.
