Forest bathing at Crombie Country Park

Broadleaf and conifer woodland around an old Dundee water supply reservoir, with level paths and wildlife hides.

Crombie Country Park lies near Monikie, inland from Carnoustie, and opened in 1983. At its heart is Crombie Loch, a reservoir that once supplied water to Dundee, and the loch is ringed by a mix of broadleaf and conifer woodland. Angus Alive runs the park, and its rangers lead walks among the trees. There are bird hides, accessible ponds and a squirrel feeding area, so it is a good place to sit still and watch.

The main walk is an easy loop around the reservoir on good, level woodland paths, though they can be muddy in places. The Discovery, Peddieston and Birchwood trails are accessible. Parking is free, there are accessible toilets at the car park and by the visitor centre, and the park is open every day of the year. For quieter time, walk on round the loch away from the play park and car park.
