Forest bathing at Drum Manor Forest Park

A former manor estate near Cookstown, with woodland trails, gardens and a wildfowl lake.

Drum Manor is a former country estate about three miles from Cookstown. The Forest Service bought it from Archibald Close in 1964 and opened it as a forest park in 1970. Today it's a mix of woodland, gardens and a wildfowl lake, with the ruins of the old manor in the middle.

All the waymarked trails start and finish at the large day car park, where there are toilets and a play area. They wind through the woods and round the lake, so it's easy to walk slowly and stop by the water, and the gardens and manor ruins give you somewhere to pause along the way. There's a car entry charge, payable on arrival, and an annual permit if you visit often. There are no shops on site; Cookstown is ten minutes away.
