Forest bathing at Parkanaur Forest Park
Mixed woodland on the old Burgess estate west of Dungannon, home to a herd of white fallow deer.
Parkanaur covers almost 200 hectares of mixed conifer and broadleaf woodland, four miles west of Dungannon. Before it came into public ownership it was part of the Burgess estate, and the old house and gardens are still part of a visit. Its best-known residents are an enclosed herd of white fallow deer.
Several waymarked walks and an ecotrail start and finish at the main car park, so you can choose a short loop and take it slowly. The ecotrail has a tree identification chart and map, useful if you like to stop and look closely at bark and leaves. There's also a Touring in the Trees caravan site in the forest. The entrance is on the A4 Enniskillen road at Quinn's Corner. Some areas may close at times for forestry work, so follow the signs.
