Forest bathing at Knockmany Forest

A cluster of woods near Augher, with a waymarked trail up to the ancient Knockmany passage tomb.

Knockmany Forest is a collection of woodland blocks around four miles from Augher in the Clogher Valley, with both conifer and broadleaf stands. The main block at Knockmany is the one to visit. From here you can reach Knockmany Passage Tomb, also known as Anya's Tomb, a prehistoric monument cared for by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency.

Park in the car park on the B83 Knockmany Road and follow the waymarked trail up through the trees towards the tomb. It's a walk with a clear destination, but there's no need to hurry; the woodland on the way up is the main part of the visit. The car park, trail and visitor facilities are looked after by Mid Ulster District Council. Parts of the forest may close at times for forestry work, so follow the signs on the day.
