Forest bathing at Seskinore Forest

A lowland mixed forest between Seskinore and Omagh, once the McClintock estate, now partly managed for wildlife.

Seskinore Forest is a lowland mixed woodland of 135 hectares between the village of Seskinore and Omagh. The McClintock family owned the estate until 1941, when they sold it to the Ministry of Agriculture. Most of the forest, 105 hectares, is managed for timber, but 30 hectares are managed for biodiversity, and the mix of broadleaves and conifers gives it more variety than a plain plantation.

There are no recreation facilities here, just woodland you're welcome to explore on foot, which is the appeal if you want somewhere simple and quiet near Omagh. The forest is on the B83 between Seskinore and Omagh. Expect forest tracks and paths rather than surfaced trails, and wear boots. Parts may close at times for forestry work.
